    Cluster Competences and Strategy

Most of the effort is now targeted at the nurturing of the Grottaglie Airport Test Bed, by involving local, national and European industrial players with the objective to create and develop a leading European research node of the aerospace industry.

    Strengths & Competences

    Science & Research

The research organizations is a valuable part of the DTA, they collaborate with large as well as medium local enterprises and support their research and innovation programs. All the regional universities and private research organizations participate in the collaborative research and development program currently lead by DTA. A number of researchers and professors belonging to University of Salento, to Polytechnic of Bari and University of Bari develop their research in the aerospace themes through DTA and publish their research in international conferences and journals.

Academic staff contribute effectively to the development of innovative approaches and methodologies, in example laboratories are equipped with very advanced machines for experimentation and testing of manufacturing procedures.

University of Salento and Politecnico di Bari provide two graduation courses on aerospace engineering themes. In particular, DTA contributed to the identification of the needs for the graduation course offered from September 2015 by the Polytechnic of Bari entitled ‘Engineering of Aerospace System’. This course is held in Taranto, near to the Grottaglie Airport, in order to provide and get benefits of this research and industrial infrastructure.

DTA is also member of Fondazione Istituto Tecnico Superiore AEROSPAZIO PUGLIA, whose mission is to support local aerospace industry by educating young staff with advanced technical competences able to sustain the future growth of the industry. By taking in consideration the advices of DTA, the on going course provided by the Fondazione Istituto Tecnico Superiore is targeted to RPAS technologies.

    International Collaboration

    Main Challenges

The main challenges DTA is already facing are the establishment of a stable and sound European perspective in the industrial members, instantiated by collaborative research and innovation projects.
