By: Lavanya Sreeranganathan

• AERTEC Solutions has been awarded the structuring of the concession of new El Dorado 2 Airport in Bogota along with the British consultancy firm Mott MacDonald and the Colombian company C&M Consultores.

• The El Dorado 2 master plan contemplates a new terminal with capacity for 7.5 million passengers a year on top of the passengers that El Dorado Airport and the Puente Aéreo (Shuttle) terminal presently handle.

• This new project in Colombia is additional to the master plan AERTEC Solutions is currently working on for José María Cordova Airport at Rionegro located in the outskirts of Medellín.

• The international engineering and consultancy firm specialized in aeronautics is continuing to consolidate itself in the Latin American airport market, where it is already a leading firm.

12 January 2017.- The Vice-President of the Republic of Colombia, Germ án Vargas Lleras, an nounced t he award of the sell side advisory consultancy project to structure the concession new El Dorad o 2 Airport in Bogota a few hours ago. The National Infrastructures Agency (ANI - Agencia Nacional de Infraestructura) of Colombia has awarded the technic al, financial and legal structuring of the new airport in Bogota, located just 16 kilometres from the current terminal area, to AERTEC Solutions, the British consultancy firm Mott MacDonald and the Colombian company C&M Consultores.

The study awarded to the consortium will consist of several phases in which a complete diagnosis of the project’s technical, financial and legal aspects will be made, along with traffic and demand forecasts, and architectural and engineering design studies, in addition to rail links between the current El Dorado Airport and the future EL Dorado 2 Airport.

The new airport's master plan contemplates a new terminal with capacity for 7.5 million passengers a year on top of the passengers that El Dorado Airport and the Puente Aéreo (Shuttle) terminal presently handle. According to a report drawn up by Aerocivil, 17.6 million passengers were moved through this air terminal from January to July 2016.

This is a significant project since it consolidates A ERTEC Solutions as a leading engineering firm in the context of Latin American airports. Bogota is one of the 21st century's large airport megacities and, with this project, it aspires to become the air transport hub between North and South America, as well as between America and Europe.

As the Colombian Vice-President German Vargas said, this is a strategic project for the country. The El Dorado 2 Airport is a response to the development and growing demand seen by the aviation business in Colombia and across the world. Air passenger movements in the country rose by 9.72% in 2015, from 58 million in 2014 to 63.7 million in 2015, according to the Statistical Bulletin published in December 2015 by the Civil Aviation Authority.

Carlos Berenguer, AERTEC Solutions' General Aviation Director, warmly welcomed this new contract because "it consolidates our growth in Latin America through a highly relevant project for Colombia".

This new award in Colombia is additional to the master plan AERTEC Solutions is currently working on for José María Cord ova Airport at Rionegro in the outskirts of Medellín, which is also being do ne in conjunction with the British engineering firm Mott MacDonald.

The international engineering and consultancy firm specialised in aeronautics is continuing to consolidate itself in the Latin American airport mar et, where it is already a leading firm.
