European Union's Horizon 2020 Framework Programme has launched a support and coordination project RADIAN

By: Carl-Friedrich Flothmann

In October, 2016, European Union's Horizon 2020 Framework Programme has launched a support and coordination project RADIAN, which shall identify the full potential of aeronautics and air transportation (AAT) research capabilities throughout Europe. RADIAN shall contribute also to further more efficient cross-European research cooperation.

The main goal of RADIAN is more than just to increase the H2020-participation of organisations from developing aeronautics countries, e.g. from Eastern Europe, but also tapping the real problems and proposing solutions for more efficient cooperation.

The project's international consortium comprises of a balanced mix of organisations representing countries with high, medium and low participation in AAT research on European level: Germany, Italy, France, Belgium, Poland, Hungary, Estonia, and Ukraine. Many of the RADIAN partners have been participated also in the EU FP7 CSA project BeAware which aimed at supporting potential coordinators and partners from Eastern European countries while identifying future R&D project opportunities in the field of AAT within the frame of Horizon 2020.

RADIAN project collaborates also with the AERO-UA project, a twin project of RADIAN. AERO-UA aims to stimulate aviation research collaboration between the European Union and Ukraine (UA) through strategic and targeted support. Both consortiums intended to co-organize several events for the European AAT community.
